The Global Educational Leadership Conference (GELC) is an annual event organised by the Academy of Principals (Singapore).

The theme for this year conference is Leading Change. Change is the new normal. New curriculum. New assessments. New evaluations. New accountability systems. New technologies. New ways of thinking. It goes on and on. Education leaders everywhere are grappling with the same questions.

  • How do you lead and keep educators engaged in this continuously changing landscape?
  • How do you keep teaching and learning relevant to today’s world with rapidly advancing technologies continuously reinventing the ways in which we work, communicate, and live our lives?

The 8th Global Educational Leadership Conference 2017 is designed for you. At this exclusive event for educational leaders, you will join colleagues from across Singapore and the region to grapple with these questions together.

The aim of GELC is to provide insight into inter-related strands: the processes and dynamics of change and the leadership skills needed to succeed in leading and managing teacher performance, and delivering the best outcomes where the standards for teachers and school leaders are now explicitly stated. Leading, managing, and delivering effective educational change in an intensively political, social and economic environment is a challenge that all educational leaders face as a critical aspect of their roles and responsibilities. New policies and strategic directions imposed from outside and within systems are constantly evolving to challenge current mind-sets and skills.

APS invites you to

  • Go beyond the surface with Andy Hargreaves to a deeper collaboration among the fraternity to ride change
  • Let John De Flaminis show you how distributed leadership helps to grow your capacity for school improvement and help you adapt to 21st century culture among your students and your younger teachers

  • Hear out Kathaleen Reid-Martinez as she treads through the changes technology has brought to education and to school leadership

What Past Delegates said about the GELC?

Thank you so much for this wonderful conference. Amazing and well-organized. I have learnt so much from the speakers, sharing and informed conversations with the other participants.

Good ideas to share success stories of people made good despite dire circumstances. It’s uplifting, reinforce our purpose/mission & in-line with society needs & urgency to embrace broader definitions of success.

Rich learning for Middle Managers – provided an overview of Education and heads up
on leading teachers towards preparing students for the VUCA world.

Different perspective on the leadership skills necessary in a VUCA environment.

Good spread of themes covered, not only in education but also from other sectors.

Interesting speakers with different perspectives.
