The Academy of Principals (Singapore) is organising its 9th Global Educational Leadership Conference on the theme “The Language of Leadership” from 21-22 March 2018 In Singapore.

Leadership has long been identified with vision and goals and with the systems that would make the same vision and goals durable and sustainable. But many are also beginning to realise that it is the language we use to communicate this same vision and goals that contributes not just to their continued existence but to their evolving with the times and the seasons.

Nowhere is this more needed than in education and in schools where learning is as much a work of the heart and spirit and not just a cognitive exercise.

The Academy has invited international speakers as well as our own from Singapore, to share with us what they have discovered as well as what the research says about leadership literacy. How do we use the language of leadership to build capacity in our school communities? How do we encourage a spirit of optimism and perseverance especially in a world rocked by change? How can we use it to bridge the social and economic divides that exist in society?

In 2018, the Conference is reaching out to other school systems and to those in our neighbouring countries to learn also how language and culture are inextricably linked.

The Global Educational Leadership Conference has been an Annual Conference since 2014.

What Past Delegates said about the GELC?

An interesting mix of expertise and backgrounds of the speakers.

The Keynote addresses are thought provoking and inspiring

It was good to invite someone from the corporate side to share their perspective about change and how schools should prepare the students.

The type of information provided by various key note speakers allows us to reflect how we can better educate our future generation and motivate the school as an organisation to embrace change.
