Sabbaticals

In 2003, the Ministry of Education launched the Sabbatical Scheme for Principals and Cluster Superintendents in a bid to promote continuous improvement and development of senior educators.

In this scheme, Principals will be allowed to take time off for sabbaticals after a term of six years to pursue other interests, such as academic pursuits, attend conferences or even write a book – while on full-pay. Grants are also available to help cover fees and for subsistence. Through this scheme, Principals will be able to take full charge of their own development in the form of “self-directed learning”, and also bring new perspective on their leadership philosophy and methods.

In line with the Sabbatical Scheme initiated by the Ministry, the Academy helps to provide a range of services designed to support Principals in their quest for continual improvements and development. These services include social-network support, and providing necessary arrangements with relevant organisations, locally or internationally.

By leveraging on our expertise and contacts, the Academy would gladly custom-design packages to suit the specific needs of our members. If you would like us to plan and arrange your sabbatical trip, we will be glad to assist. This exclusive service is for APS members only.

Here is also a list (definitely non-exhaustive) of overseas seminars or conferences that might be at an overseas destination you were considering.
